This day trip offers incredible views of Mount Fuji from Mishima Sky Walk, includes a pirate-ship cruise on Lake Ashi and a visit to the gardens of the Odawara Castle.
Mount Fuji Day Trip Itinerary
The tour meets at 8:20 in the morning in the centre of Tokyo, and from there we head to the Odawara province, approximately 50 miles, or 80 kilometres, from the Japanese capital.
After two hours, we arrive at the Odawara Castle, built in the fifteenth century by the Omori clan. We'll see the beautiful façade and learn about the history hidden behind its impregnable walls. Did you know that it was the largest defensive building during the period?
Having left the castle behind, you'll have an hour of free time to enjoy a buffet lunch in a local restaurant, trying the typical local cuisine with the seafood a definite highlight. Fuelled up and ready for the second half of the excursion, we'll head back to the bus and make our way to Lake Ashi.
Once at the lake, which was created following the eruption of Mount Fuji 3,000 years ago, we'll climb aboard a pirate galleon to take a relaxing cruise on the water, as we enjoy the views of one of the most famous volcanoes in the world. Mount Fuji is the tallest peak in the country, at almost 4,000 metres tall, and has been a place of pilgrimage and artistic inspiration for centuries.
The day trip then ends, disembarking from the boat to discover another of the most famous views of Mount Fuji. We'll take you to the Mishima Sky Walk, the longest hanging footbridge in Japan from where, weather permitting, you'll have the majestic symbol of Japan as a backdrop.
With the tour over, and with unforgettable images stamped in your mind, we'll take you back to Tokyo, arriving between 5:30 and 6 pm.
