Kamakura, Odawara and Lake Ashi Tour
At 8:45 am, we'll meet next to the 'Love' sculpture, located in Tokyo's Shinjuku district. There the bus will be waiting for us to take us to Kamakura, only an hour and a half away. Are you ready to discover the main charms of this city? Let's go there!
The first stop will be at a small shrine surrounded by a beautiful Japanese garden. We'll be engulfed by an atmosphere of calm that will accompany us for one of the most ancient traditions of the country: the tea ceremony. During 30 minutes we'll follow the explanations of a master to learn how to correctly make matcha tea, an unforgettable experience!
Afterwards, we'll go to the Tsurugaoka Hachiman temple-gū, the most important Shinto sanctuary in Kamakura. We'll leave you 40 minutes to explore the outside of this 11th century building and to stroll through its gardens full of cherry trees.
Afterwards, we'll have a delicious lunch composed of small taster dishes of Japanese cuisine. Once you have recovered your strength, we'll take you to see the Great Buddha of Kamakura, the second largest Buddha sculpture in Japan. It's over 13 metres long and weighs 93 tons!
We'll not leave Kamakura without visiting the Buddhist temple of Hase Dera. There, we'll make a brief stop so that you can enjoy the exteriors of this sanctuary, famous for housing more than 50,000 small sculptures.
And we're going to Odawara! Once we arrive at the castle, we'll leave you half an hour of free time so that you can get to know the surroundings. From here, we'll head to our last destination: Lake Ashi. During 20 minutes we'll tour these surroundings enjoying incredible views of Mount Fuji.
We'll finish the tour arriving back in Tokyo at 7 pm.
